How rankings work
What the numbers on sc2ranks mean, and where they come from.
MMR
Matchmaking rating is the number Blizzard uses to pair you with opponents. It rises when you win and falls when you lose, by more when the result is unexpected. Every ladder on this site is sorted by it.
Leagues and tiers
Leagues run from Bronze to Grandmaster. Below Grandmaster each league has tiers, numbered 1 (highest) to 3, so Master 1 is the top tier of Master. Grandmaster is the top 200 players of each region and has no tiers.
Rank
The # column is a player's place on the ladder you are looking at: the season, queue, team type, region, league and race you picked. Searching by name, MMR, games or activity only narrows the list, so everyone keeps their real rank.
Regions
EU, NA and KR are ranked separately by Blizzard; "All regions" combines them by MMR. Taiwan shares Korea's servers, so it is shown as KR. China's ladder isn't available through the API.
Queues and team types
Team queues (2v2, 3v3 and 4v4) have separate ladders for arranged (pre-made) teams and random (solo-queued) teams. 1v1 and Archon have one ladder each.
Races
A player's race on a ladder is the one they played most on that team. Players who switch races appear once per race; expand a row to see the races they also play.
Updates
Ladders sync from the Battle.net API twice a day, at 12:00 and 18:00, and the profile MMR chart gets a point each time a sync sees a player play. The Service status page shows when each region last changed.
Barcode names
Some players use names made only of l, I and | characters, which look identical. "Hide barcode names" removes them from a ladder.
Exports and links
Every ladder view has its own URL: copy it to share exactly what you see, save it to Following, or export it as CSV (up to 10,000 rows).
